Open and read an e-invoice
Open your e-invoice in your browser, read the XML and print or save a readable PDF. Free, with no account and no upload.
In short
See supported XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, Peppol, UBL and CII files as clear invoices, and save them as PDFs. Free, and the file stays on your device. Free.
Klarbon's e-invoice viewer opens XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, Peppol BIS, UBL and CII files in your browser and shows them as a readable invoice, which you can print or save as a PDF. It is free and unlimited, needs no account, and the file never leaves your device. Opening does not validate the invoice; use Check for that.
Which formats can I open?
Klarbon detects the format from the file itself:
| You have | Examples | Opens |
|---|---|---|
| An XML file | XRechnung (UBL or CII), Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, UBL 2.1, CII, UBL.BE, NLCIUS | yes |
| A PDF with the XML inside | ZUGFeRD, Factur-X | yes, the embedded invoice is shown |
| An ordinary PDF | a scanned or exported invoice without XML | does not open as an e-invoice; enter its details in Convert |
UBL 2.1 and CII D16B have bindings for the European e-invoice standard EN 16931 (European Commission). A plain PDF is not a structured e-invoice. UBL.BE is a conformant extension, not a compliant format for sending invoices under the Belgian B2B rule (UBL.BE). For one format in depth, see the viewers for XRechnung, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X and Peppol BIS.
How do I open an e-invoice?
- Drop or choose the file. On a phone, pick it from Files, Mail or your downloads.
- Read the invoice. Check the fields shown, such as the seller, buyer, number, dates, lines, totals and payment details, against the original file.
- Print or save as PDF. Use Print in Klarbon or your browser, then a printer or Save as PDF.
Why does the XML look like code?
Because an e-invoice is meant for software. Opened in a browser or text editor, the XML shows its tags, such as cbc:InvoiceTypeCode or ram:SellerTradeParty. Nothing is broken. A viewer turns the structured data back into a page a person can read.
What happens to my file?
Nothing leaves your device. The viewer reads the file in your browser and draws the invoice there. Klarbon does not upload, store or log it. See what happens to my files.
Is the invoice valid if it opens?
Not necessarily. The viewer shows what the file contains, even if totals do not add up or a required field is missing. Check the e-invoice against the selected rules and read the returned findings. Passing those checks does not guarantee a recipient will accept it.
What if the file does not open?
Klarbon says why in one sentence. The common cases:
- A PDF without invoice data. It is an ordinary PDF and can be printed as it is.
- An XML file that is not an invoice, such as an order or a delivery note.
- A damaged or incomplete file. Ask the sender for the file again.
- A file over 20 MB. Ask the sender for a smaller copy.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Opening, printing and saving as PDF are free and unlimited, without an account. Paid tools, such as Convert, Fix and Make, cost one credit per invoice after a free preview. See prices.

Frequently asked questions
How do I open an e-invoice XML file?
Drop the XML file, or a PDF with the invoice XML inside, on Klarbon's e-invoice viewer. It shows the invoice as a readable document with seller, buyer, lines, VAT and totals. It is free and needs no account.
Which e-invoice formats can I open?
XRechnung in UBL or CII, ZUGFeRD, Factur-X, Peppol BIS Billing, plain UBL and CII, the Belgian UBL.BE and the Dutch NLCIUS. Klarbon recognises the format from the file, so you do not need to choose it.
How do I turn an e-invoice XML into a PDF?
Open it in the viewer, then choose Print and save as PDF. The PDF is a readable copy; keep the original XML as the invoice.
Does my file get uploaded when I open it?
No. The viewer reads the file inside your browser. Nothing is sent to Klarbon or anyone else while you view or print it.
Does opening an e-invoice check whether it is valid?
No. A readable invoice can still break the rules. Use Check to run the supported rules for its declared specification. Opening and checking are separate steps.
