What it means
The amount due for payment (BT-115) must equal the invoice total with VAT (BT-112), minus the paid amount (BT-113), plus the rounding amount (BT-114), plus the sum of charge amounts collected on behalf of a third party (BT-179). Unlike the other total checks, this one allows no rounding difference: the figures must match exactly. Paid, rounding and third-party amounts that are not given count as zero.
Why it matters
The amount due is what the buyer is asked to pay. If it does not follow from the totals, the payment would be wrong, so the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Start from the total with VAT, subtract any prepayment or deposit already received, then add the rounding amount and any amounts collected for a third party. Enter the result as the amount due. A common cause is a prepayment shown on the invoice but missing from the file, or a rounding applied to the amount due without being entered as a rounding amount.
The rule as published
Amount due for payment (BT-115) = Invoice total amount with VAT (BT-112) -Paid amount (BT-113) + Rounding amount (BT-114) + Sum of Charge amount collected on behalf of a third party (BT-179). Business terms: BT-112, BT-113, BT-114, BT-115, BT-179
