BR-DEX-09: Amount due must add up, including third party payments

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DEX-09 means the amount due for payment (BT-115) is not the total with VAT (BT-112) minus the paid amount (BT-113) plus the rounding amount (BT-114) plus the third party payments. Fix it by recalculating the amount due with exactly that sum, to the cent.

On this page

What it means

The amount due for payment (BT-115) must equal the invoice total with VAT (BT-112), less the paid amount (BT-113), plus the rounding amount (BT-114), plus the sum of all third party payment amounts (BT-DEX-002) on the invoice. Both sides are compared after rounding to two decimals. The rule only runs on invoices that use the XRechnung extension.

Why it matters

The amount due is what the buyer is asked to pay. If it does not follow from the total, the payments and the rounding, the recipient cannot tell what to pay or book, and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Start from the total with VAT, subtract the amount already paid, add the rounding amount if you use one, and add the third party payments listed on the invoice. Enter the result as the amount due for payment. If your software leaves the third party payments out of its calculation, check how it records them, or remove them if they are not meant to be there.

The rule as published

Amount due for payment (BT-115) = Invoice total amount with VAT (BT-112) - Paid amount (BT-113) + Rounding amount (BT-114) + Σ Third party payment amount (BT-DEX-002).

Business terms: BT-112, BT-113, BT-114, BT-115
