Warning

UBL-CR-263: The invoice should not include an accounting contact for the buyer

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-263 means the file has an accounting contact (cac:AccountingContact) directly inside the buyer's details, which EN 16931 does not use. Remove that element from the buyer. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted.

What it means

Checks that the buyer's details (cac:AccountingCustomerParty) in a UBL invoice or credit note do not contain an accounting contact (cac:AccountingContact), a contact for accounting questions that UBL offers. EN 16931 has no business term for it. The buyer contact that the standard does allow (BG-9) is a different element, cac:Party/cac:Contact, and is not flagged.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. Software that follows EN 16931 has no field for an accounting contact, so it normally drops it when it reads the invoice. It is worth fixing when you want a clean report, or when the recipient's accounts team needs the name and should get it in a field the standard reads.

How to fix it

Check the customer record in your invoicing software for an accounting or finance contact that is exported into the buyer's details, clear it and export again. If you want a contact person on the invoice, use the buyer contact name, telephone and email fields. If you build the XML yourself, remove cac:AccountingContact from cac:AccountingCustomerParty.
