Warning

UBL-CR-266: The payee should not carry an 'attention' flag

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-266 means the payee has an 'attention' flag (cbc:MarkAttentionIndicator), which EN 16931 does not use. Remove the flag from the payee. It is only a warning, so the invoice is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

Checks that the payee block (cac:PayeeParty) does not contain cbc:MarkAttentionIndicator, a yes or no flag in UBL for marking a party as the one to give attention to. For the payee (BG-10), the party that receives the payment when that is not the seller, EN 16931 only allows the name (BT-59), the identifier (BT-60) and the legal registration identifier (BT-61).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The standard has no field for this flag, so the recipient's software normally ignores it and it cannot draw anyone's attention. It is worth removing when you want a clean report, or when you meant to say something to the recipient and need another way to do it.

How to fix it

Check the payee or bank details in your invoicing software for an attention or priority option, clear it and export again. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:MarkAttentionIndicator from cac:PayeeParty. Add a payee only when the money goes to someone other than the seller.
