Warning

UBL-CR-269: The payee should not include an electronic address

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-269 means the payee has an electronic address (cbc:EndpointID), but EN 16931 only has one for the seller and the buyer. Remove the address from the payee block. It is only a warning, so the invoice is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

Checks that the payee block (cac:PayeeParty) does not contain cbc:EndpointID, the electronic address that UBL lets a party carry, such as a Peppol ID. EN 16931 has an electronic address for the seller (BT-34) and the buyer (BT-49) but not for the payee (BG-10).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. An electronic address for the payee has no role in the standard, so the recipient's software ignores it. It is worth fixing when you want a clean report, and you should check that the seller's and buyer's electronic addresses (BT-34 and BT-49) are filled in, because those are the ones that are read.

How to fix it

Clear the electronic address or Peppol ID from the payee details in your invoicing software and export again. Make sure your own address sits in the seller details and the customer's address in the buyer details. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:EndpointID from cac:PayeeParty.
