What it means
When the seller and the buyer are both in Germany and the payment means type code (BT-81) is 48, 54 or 55 (card payment), that payment instruction must not contain bank transfer details (BG-17) or direct debit details (BG-19). The check fails if a bank account block or a direct debit mandate block is present.
Why it matters
A payment instruction should describe one way of paying. A card payment code combined with a bank account or a direct debit mandate contradicts itself, so the buyer cannot tell how the invoice is meant to be settled. The invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Check which payment method is selected in the payment section of your invoicing software. If the invoice is paid by card, remove the bank account details and any direct debit mandate from it. If it is really paid by bank transfer or direct debit, change the payment method and enter the card details nowhere.
