BR-DE-23-B: Bank transfer payments must not carry card or debit details

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

BR-DE-23-B means the payment is marked as a bank transfer (code 30 or 58) but the same payment block also holds card or direct debit details. Fix it by removing the card and direct debit details, or by changing the payment code to match them.

On this page

What it means

The payment means type code (BT-81) says credit transfer (30 or 58), yet the same payment block also contains payment card information (BG-18) or direct debit information (BG-19). A transfer may only carry the credit transfer details (BG-17).

Why it matters

The payment code and the details contradict each other. The recipient cannot tell whether to expect a transfer, a card payment or a debit, so the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Check the payment section of the invoice. If you are asking for a transfer, delete the card details and the mandate details and keep the IBAN. If the buyer pays by card or direct debit instead, change the payment means code to the matching one (48, 54 or 55 for a card, 59 for direct debit) and remove the other details.

The rule as published

Wenn BT-81 "Payment means type code" einen Schlüssel für Überweisungen enthält (30, 58), dürfen BG-18 und BG-19 nicht übermittelt werden.

Business terms: BG-18, BG-19, BT-81
