Warning

CII-SR-379: Do not include the amount still available on a card

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-379 means the payment card details in the file include a CreditAvailableAmount element, the amount still available on the card, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting that element. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The payment card details (ApplicableTradeSettlementFinancialCard) inside the payment means section contain a CreditAvailableAmount element, which holds how much can still be spent on the card. EN 16931 has no field for it, and allows only the card number (BT-87) and the cardholder name (BT-88).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The figure has no bearing on what the buyer owes, and the buyer's software does not read it. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean, and because it is private information about the card.

How to fix it

Switch off any card balance or available amount in the payment details your invoicing software exports. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the CreditAvailableAmount element from the card details. The amount to be paid belongs in the amount due (BT-115).
