Warning

CII-SR-384: Do not include a clearing system name for the debited bank

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-384 means the bank of the account to be debited has a ClearingSystemName element in the file, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting that element. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The bank of the account to be debited (PayerSpecifiedDebtorFinancialInstitution) in the payment means section contains a ClearingSystemName element, the name of the clearing system that bank belongs to. EN 16931 identifies the account to be debited by its account identifier (BT-91) only and has no field for the bank behind it.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The buyer's software does not read details of the debited bank, so the name is ignored. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean.

How to fix it

Look at the direct debit details in your invoicing software and switch off any bank clearing information that is exported. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the ClearingSystemName element, or the whole PayerSpecifiedDebtorFinancialInstitution block if nothing else in it is needed. Keep the account identifier (BT-91) if the invoice is paid by direct debit.
