Warning

CII-SR-386: Do not include an address for the bank to be debited

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-386 means the bank of the account to be debited has a LocationFinancialInstitutionAddress element in the file, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting the whole address block. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The bank of the account to be debited (PayerSpecifiedDebtorFinancialInstitution) in the payment means section contains a LocationFinancialInstitutionAddress element, the postal address of that bank. EN 16931 has no field for the address of a bank. The account to be debited is given only as an account identifier (BT-91).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The buyer's software does not read a bank address, so it is dropped or ignored. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean, and because it is personal data the invoice does not need.

How to fix it

Switch off the bank address in the direct debit details your invoicing software exports. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the whole LocationFinancialInstitutionAddress element with everything inside it. Keep the account identifier (BT-91) if the invoice is paid by direct debit.
