Warning

CII-SR-385: Do not include the name of the bank to be debited

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-385 means the bank of the account to be debited has a Name element in the file, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting that element. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The bank of the account to be debited (PayerSpecifiedDebtorFinancialInstitution) in the payment means section contains a Name element, the name of that bank. EN 16931 gives the account to be debited as an account identifier (BT-91) and has no field for the bank's name.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The buyer's bank is found from the account identifier, so a bank name adds nothing and is not read. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean.

How to fix it

Remove the bank name from the direct debit details your invoicing software exports. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the Name element inside PayerSpecifiedDebtorFinancialInstitution. Keep the account identifier (BT-91) if the invoice is paid by direct debit.
