DE-R-025-1: Direct debit payments need direct debit details

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

DE-R-025-1 means the payment means type code says SEPA direct debit (59), but the invoice has no direct debit details. Fix it by adding the direct debit section with the mandate and the buyer's account, or by changing the payment means code if you are not collecting by direct debit.

What it means

When the seller and the buyer are both in Germany and the payment means type code (BT-81) is 59 (SEPA direct debit), the invoice must contain the direct debit group (BG-19). The check looks for the mandate block inside that payment instruction. That is where the mandate reference (BT-89) and the buyer's account to be debited (BT-91) go. Rules DE-R-030 and DE-R-031 check the creditor identifier and the debited account separately.

Why it matters

With a direct debit you collect the money from the buyer's account. Without the mandate details the buyer's bank and software cannot tell what is being collected or on what authority. The invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, open the payment details and fill in the SEPA direct debit section: the mandate reference, your creditor identifier and the buyer's IBAN. If the buyer will pay by bank transfer instead, change the payment method and enter your own IBAN as the account to be paid into.
