CII-SR-485: The total discount amount may appear only once

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

CII-SR-485 means the invoice totals contain the extra element TotalDiscountAmount more than once. Fix it by keeping one, or by removing it if nothing needs it.

On this page

What it means

The totals section (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) can hold a total discount amount in the element TotalDiscountAmount. EN 16931 has no business term for it and reports discounts through the total of the discounts on the whole invoice (BT-107) instead. The check allows TotalDiscountAmount at most once.

Why it matters

With two values the recipient cannot tell which total discount is meant, and the discount figures in the file contradict each other. This is a fatal error and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Decide whether anyone needs this figure. If not, remove TotalDiscountAmount from the totals; if so, keep one. A repeat is usually a fault in the software that exported the file, so export the invoice again or ask the supplier to fix it.

The rule as published

TotalDiscountAmount shall occur at most once in SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation.
