Warning

CII-SR-414: Leave out RetailValueExcludingTaxInformationAmount from the totals

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-414 means the invoice totals contain a RetailValueExcludingTaxInformationAmount element, an extra information-only figure that EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove the element to clear it.

What it means

The block of invoice totals (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) must not contain RetailValueExcludingTaxInformationAmount, an information-only figure for a retail value excluding tax. EN 16931 has no field for it. The totals it does define include the sum of the line amounts (BT-106), the total excluding VAT (BT-109), the total VAT amount (BT-110), the total including VAT (BT-112) and the amount due (BT-115).

Why it matters

This rule is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The figure sits outside the standard, so the recipient's software is not expected to read it, and it does not feed into the EN 16931 calculations. It is worth fixing when a recipient wants a file that follows EN 16931 exactly.

How to fix it

Remove the element from the invoice totals. In most software this is a setting in the e-invoice export rather than a field on the invoice, so look for a choice of format or profile and use the EN 16931 one. If your software always adds it, ask the supplier to stop. Removing it does not change any amount on the invoice.
