Warning

CII-SR-416: Leave out ProductValueExcludingTobaccoTaxInformationAmount

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-416 means the invoice totals contain a ProductValueExcludingTobaccoTaxInformationAmount element, an information-only figure that EN 16931 does not use. It is a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove the element to clear it.

What it means

The block of invoice totals (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) must not contain ProductValueExcludingTobaccoTaxInformationAmount, an information-only figure for the product value excluding tobacco tax. EN 16931 has no field for it.

Why it matters

This rule is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The figure is outside the standard, so the recipient's software is not expected to read it and the value is likely to be ignored. It is worth fixing when a recipient wants a file that follows EN 16931 exactly.

How to fix it

Remove the element from the invoice totals. If your software adds it automatically, look in the e-invoice export settings for the EN 16931 option, or ask the supplier to switch it off. The line amounts and the VAT breakdown do not change when you remove it.

The rule as published

ProductValueExcludingTobaccoTaxInformationAmount should not be present
