Warning

CII-SR-418: Leave out GrossLineTotalAmount from the totals

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-418 means the invoice totals contain a GrossLineTotalAmount element, which EN 16931 does not use. It is a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove the element and keep LineTotalAmount for the sum of the lines.

On this page

What it means

The block of invoice totals (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) must not contain GrossLineTotalAmount, a separate gross total of the lines. EN 16931 uses a different element, LineTotalAmount, for the sum of the line amounts excluding VAT (BT-106).

Why it matters

This rule is a warning, so the file is still accepted. EN 16931 has no gross total of the lines, so the recipient's software is not expected to read it. What counts is the sum of the line amounts (BT-106), which is a separate element.

How to fix it

Delete GrossLineTotalAmount from the totals block and make sure LineTotalAmount is still there, since the sum of the line amounts (BT-106) is required. In invoicing software this is set by the e-invoice export profile, so choose the EN 16931 option or ask the supplier to stop writing the element. If you create the XML yourself, just remove the one element.
