Warning

CII-SR-413: Leave out TotalAllowanceChargeAmount from the invoice totals

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-413 means the invoice totals contain a TotalAllowanceChargeAmount element, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning and the file is still accepted, but you can clear it by removing that element and keeping the separate totals for discounts and charges.

What it means

The block of invoice totals (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) must not contain TotalAllowanceChargeAmount, a single figure for discounts and charges together. EN 16931 uses two separate totals instead: the total of discounts on the whole invoice (BT-107) and the total of charges on the whole invoice (BT-108).

Why it matters

This rule is a warning, so the file is still accepted. EN 16931 has no place for this figure, so the recipient's software is not expected to read it and the value is likely to be ignored. It is worth fixing if the recipient or platform wants a file that follows EN 16931 exactly, or if you want a check result with no warnings.

How to fix it

Your invoicing software writes this element, so you rarely edit it by hand. Look in its e-invoice export settings for a choice of format or profile, and pick the EN 16931 option rather than a fuller one such as EXTENDED. If there is no such setting, ask the software supplier to stop writing the element. If you create the XML yourself, delete it and keep the separate discount and charge totals.
