Warning

CII-SR-375: Do not include a payment card expiry date

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-375 means the payment card details in the file include an ExpiryDate element, the date the card expires, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting that element. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The payment card details (ApplicableTradeSettlementFinancialCard) inside the payment means section contain an ExpiryDate element. EN 16931 identifies a card only by its number (BT-87) and the cardholder name (BT-88), so there is no field for an expiry date.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The buyer's software does not read the date, so it plays no part in how the invoice is processed. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean, and because card details travel with every copy of the invoice.

How to fix it

Remove the card expiry date from whatever your invoicing software exports with the payment details. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the ExpiryDate element from the card details. Keep the card number (BT-87) and the cardholder name (BT-88) if the invoice is paid by card.
