What it means
The settlement part of the invoice (ApplicableHeaderTradeSettlement) contains a PaymentApplicableTradeCurrencyExchange element. This is where the CII format can record an exchange rate for the currency of payment. EN 16931 has no field for it, so the rule asks you to leave it out.
Why it matters
This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. EN 16931 does not define the field, so the buyer's software is not expected to read it, and the rate may be ignored or dropped. It is worth fixing when you want a clean file, or when the buyer needs the rate and would never see it.
How to fix it
This element is normally written by the invoicing software, so look for a payment currency or exchange rate setting and switch it off, or ask your software supplier to stop exporting it. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the whole PaymentApplicableTradeCurrencyExchange element. If the buyer needs to know the rate, put it in an invoice note (BT-22). To show VAT in a second currency, use the VAT accounting currency (BT-6) and the VAT amount in that currency (BT-111).
