Warning

CII-SR-372: Do not include a card chip indicator

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-372 means the payment card details in the file include a MicrochipIndicator element, which EN 16931 does not use. Fix it by deleting that element. The file is still accepted.

On this page

What it means

The payment card details (ApplicableTradeSettlementFinancialCard) inside the payment means section contain a MicrochipIndicator element, a flag for whether the card has a chip. EN 16931 carries only two card details: the card number (BT-87) and the cardholder name (BT-88).

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The buyer's software only looks for the fields EN 16931 defines, so the flag is ignored. It is worth fixing to keep the file clean. It does not change how the invoice is paid.

How to fix it

Check which card details your invoicing software exports and switch off any chip or card feature option. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the MicrochipIndicator element. If the invoice is paid by card, keep only the card number (BT-87) and the cardholder name (BT-88).
