Warning

CII-SR-296: Do not add a quotation reference

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-296 means the invoice refers to a quotation (QuotationReferencedDocument), which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove the reference to clear it.

On this page

What it means

The check looks in the agreement part of the invoice header for a reference to a quotation (ram:QuotationReferencedDocument), the offer the invoice is based on. EN 16931 has no field for a quotation number.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. A recipient that follows the standard does not read the quotation reference, so it is not used to match or approve the invoice. It is worth fixing if the buyer needs the quote number to approve payment, because they will not see it here.

How to fix it

Remove the quotation number from the references of the invoice in your invoicing software, or from the export settings that send it. In the XML, delete the ram:QuotationReferencedDocument block. If the buyer needs the quote number, put it in the invoice note or attach the quotation as a supporting document.
