What it means
Where an invoice or credit note links to a document held elsewhere, the web address of that document (External document location, BT-124) may be at most 200 characters long. Spaces at the start and end are ignored.
Why it matters
Romania's national specification for e-invoices (CIUS-RO) sets this limit, and the rule is fatal. RO e-Factura rejects the file, so it does not count as delivered until you send a corrected one.
How to fix it
Find the external document link in your invoicing software, usually in the references or supporting documents section of the invoice. Replace the long address with a shorter one, for example by removing tracking parameters from the end. If the document matters, attach it to the invoice instead of linking to it.
The rule as published
Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Localizarea documentului extern (BT-124), este 200. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the External document location (BT-124) is 200. Business terms: BT-124
