What it means
The reference to the contract the invoice relates to (Contract reference, BT-12) may be at most 200 characters long. The test counts the characters of the contract identifier, ignoring spaces at the start and end.
Why it matters
CIUS-RO caps this field at 200 characters and the rule is fatal. RO e-Factura rejects the file, so the buyer cannot process it until you send a corrected one.
How to fix it
Look for a field called contract reference, contract number or agreement in your invoicing software. It should hold an identifier, such as the number on the signed contract, not a description of it. If a sentence has been pasted in, replace it with the number and put the description in the invoice note.
The rule as published
Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Referinta contractului (BT-12) este 200. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the Contract reference(BT-12) is 200. Business terms: BT-12
