What it means
The invoice declares the XRechnung CVD profile (for the EU Clean Vehicles Directive) in its specification identifier (BT-24). Such an invoice must carry a contract reference (BT-12), and it must not be empty. The rule applies only to CVD invoices.
Why it matters
German public buyers use CVD invoices to report vehicle purchases under the Clean Vehicles Directive. The contract reference ties the invoice to the call-off being reported, so without it the invoice is rejected.
How to fix it
Enter the contract number or call-off number you received from the buyer in the contract reference field of the invoice. If the buyer did not ask for the CVD variant, export the invoice with the standard XRechnung profile instead, and the CVD rules no longer apply.
The rule as published
Das Element "Contract reference" (BT-12) muss übermittelt werden. Business terms: BT-12
