BR-CL-23: Units of measure must come from UN/ECE Recommendation 20 or 21

In short

BR-CL-23 means a unit of measure code (BT-130 or BT-150) is not in UN/ECE Recommendation 20 or 21. Map the units in your invoicing software to UN/ECE codes (most programs have a setting for this) and export again.

What it means

Every unit of measure, for quantities (BT-130) and for the price base quantity (BT-150), must be a code from UN/ECE Recommendation 20 or 21, for example C62 for pieces (one), H87 for piece, HUR for hours, DAY for days, KGM for kilograms or MTR for metres. Abbreviations such as "pcs", "Stk", "h" or "kg" are not codes.

Why it matters

Codes are read by software, not by people. A value outside the agreed code list cannot be interpreted, so the recipient's system rejects the invoice even when the value looks sensible to a person.

How to fix it

Map the units in your invoicing software to UN/ECE codes (most programs have a setting for this) and export again. If you build the XML yourself, write the code in the unitCode attribute, for example unitCode="HUR" for hours.

The rule as published

Unit code MUST be coded according to the UN/ECE Recommendation 20 with Rec 21 extension
