In short

Fill in one form and get an e-invoice checked against the selected rules, for the few you send a year. Free preview, then 1 credit (€4.99).

Klarbon creates a single XRechnung from a form: enter your details, your customer's, the Leitweg-ID or buyer reference, the lines and the payment terms, and download an XRechnung validated against EN 16931 and the KoSIT rules. It suits occasional invoices to German public bodies or businesses, without accounting software. One credit per invoice; the preview is free.

How do I create an XRechnung?

  1. Enter the seller: your name, address, VAT number or tax number, and a contact with email and phone, which XRechnung requires.
  2. Enter the buyer and the buyer reference: a Leitweg-ID if the recipient requires one, or the reference your customer gave you.
  3. Add the lines: description, quantity, unit, price and VAT rate. Klarbon calculates the totals.
  4. Add the payment details: payment means, IBAN and due date. XRechnung requires payment instructions.
  5. Choose UBL or CII, validate and download. The preview is free; one credit unlocks the file.

What is special about XRechnung?

XRechnung is the German specification of EN 16931, maintained by KoSIT (KoSIT). It adds rules with the prefix BR-DE, for example that the buyer reference (BR-DE-15), seller contact details and payment instructions (BR-DE-1) must be present. Klarbon's form asks for these, then validation reports any rules the file does not pass. More in what is XRechnung.

Where do I send it?

Where your customer tells you: the federal portals, a state portal, or an email address. Federal bodies take invoices through their e-invoicing portals; your customer's order or contract names the route. Klarbon does not submit invoices or keep an archive.

Do I have to send XRechnung to businesses?

Since 1 January 2025, businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices for in-scope domestic B2B supplies. Issuing requirements have transitions through 2026, extended through 2027 for eligible smaller issuers and certain EDI arrangements, with exceptions (BMF FAQ). XRechnung is one accepted format; ZUGFeRD from 2.0.1, except MINIMUM and BASIC WL, is another. See the German e-invoicing guide. Klarbon does not give tax advice.

What does Klarbon not do?

It keeps no customer list, numbering or archive. You choose the invoice number and keep the file. Klarbon is not invoicing software; if you send invoices every week, software that writes XRechnung saves typing.

What happens to the data I enter?

It is processed on Klarbon's servers to write and validate the file, then deleted. See what happens to my files.

What does it cost?

One credit per invoice: EUR 4.99 including VAT, ten for EUR 29, fifty for EUR 99. See prices.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create an XRechnung without accounting software?

Fill in Klarbon's form with your details, your customer's, the Leitweg-ID or buyer reference, the lines and the payment details. Klarbon writes the XRechnung and validates it; the download costs one credit.

Do I need a Leitweg-ID to create an XRechnung?

Use a Leitweg-ID when your recipient requires one, often for a public-sector invoice. Otherwise enter the buyer reference your customer provides. For B2B VAT purposes, the Federal Ministry of Finance permits a placeholder such as "-" if none is provided.

Should I choose UBL or CII?

Either is a valid XRechnung. Use the one your customer or their portal accepts; do not assume that every portal accepts both.

How do I send the XRechnung to a public body?

Upload it to the portal your customer names, such as the federal ZRE or OZG-RE, or send it by email if they accept that. Klarbon does not submit it for you.
