Warning

UBL-CR-080: Do not add an issue date to the originator document reference

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-080 means the invoice has an issue date (cbc:IssueDate) inside its originator document reference, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the invoice is still accepted, but you should remove that element and export again.

What it means

This rule checks that the originator document reference in a UBL invoice or credit note (cac:OriginatorDocumentReference) does not contain a date, meaning the day the referenced document was issued. This is not the invoice date (BT-2). EN 16931 uses that block only for the tender or lot reference (BT-17, in cbc:ID).

Why it matters

The standard has no field for the date of the referenced document, so the recipient's software ignores it or drops it. They will not see the date you entered. The rule is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted.

How to fix it

Delete cbc:IssueDate from cac:OriginatorDocumentReference and export again. Leave the invoice date alone, as it is a separate field and is required. If the recipient needs the date of the tender or contract, put it in an invoice note (BT-22) next to the reference.

The rule as published

A UBL invoice should not include the OriginatorDocumentReference IssueDate
