CII-SR-473: A discount or charge may have only one amount

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

CII-SR-473 means a discount or a charge in the invoice has its amount (ActualAmount) written more than once. Fix it by keeping one amount for that discount or charge and removing the repeat.

On this page

What it means

Every discount or charge has one amount: BT-136 or BT-141 on an invoice line, BT-92 or BT-99 on the whole invoice. In the CII file that amount is the element ActualAmount inside the discount or charge entry (SpecifiedTradeAllowanceCharge). This rule counts how often it appears in one entry and allows at most one.

Why it matters

The recipient's software reads one amount per discount or charge and adds it to or subtracts it from the totals. With two amounts it cannot tell which one is meant, so the totals cannot be trusted. This is a fatal error and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

This is usually a fault in the software that created the file rather than something you typed. Check the discount or charge in your invoicing software, then create and export the invoice again. If the amount is still repeated, report it to the software supplier. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the extra ActualAmount inside that entry and keep the correct one.

The rule as published

ActualAmount should exist maximum once
