CII-SR-477: The sum of the line amounts may appear only once

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

CII-SR-477 means the invoice totals contain the sum of the line amounts (LineTotalAmount) more than once. Fix it by keeping one value that equals the sum of your lines and removing the repeat.

On this page

What it means

The totals section of the invoice (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) holds the sum of all line amounts excluding VAT (BT-106) in the element LineTotalAmount. The check counts how often it appears and allows at most one.

Why it matters

The invoice total excluding VAT is worked out from this figure. With two values the recipient cannot tell which is the real sum, so the VAT and the amount due cannot be checked. This is a fatal error and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Invoicing software normally builds this figure from the lines, so a repeat usually points to a fault in the export or a hand edit of the file. Create and export the invoice again, then run the check once more. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the extra LineTotalAmount and keep the one that matches the sum of your line amounts excluding VAT (BT-131).
