What it means
The seller contact point (BT-41) is the person or department to contact about the invoice. In the file the contact block can hold a person's name and a department name. The check fails when both are filled in.
Why it matters
The standard has a single field for the contact point. When both are present, software reading the file keeps one and may drop the other. The file is still accepted.
How to fix it
In your invoicing software, open the seller's contact details and fill in either a person or a department. Keep the department if that is the better way to reach you, such as Accounts, and otherwise keep the person's name. It is worth fixing if the buyer needs to know whom to contact about the invoice.
The rule as published
Only one BT-41 element is allowed on an invoice. Business terms: BT-41
