Warning

CII-SR-305: Do not name an agent acting for the buyer

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-305 means the invoice names an agent acting for the buyer (BuyerAgentTradeParty), which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted; remove the agent to clear it.

On this page

What it means

The check looks in the agreement part of the invoice header for a party that acts as an agent for the buyer (ram:BuyerAgentTradeParty). EN 16931 has no place for a buyer's agent; the buyer is named in the buyer section.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. A recipient that follows the standard does not read the agent, so it plays no part in booking or routing the invoice. It is worth fixing if the invoice is meant to reach the agent, because this field will not do that.

How to fix it

Remove the buyer's agent from the invoice in your invoicing software, or from the export settings that send it. In the XML, delete the ram:BuyerAgentTradeParty block. Check that the buyer section names the right organisation. If the agent matters to the buyer, mention it in the invoice note.
