Warning

CII-SR-184: Line discounts and charges should not have an ID

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-184 means a discount or charge on an invoice line has an ID, which EN 16931 does not use. It is only a warning, so the file is still accepted, and you fix it by removing the ID and describing the discount or charge with a reason instead.

On this page

What it means

A discount or charge on an invoice line (SpecifiedTradeAllowanceCharge in the XML) should not contain an ID, an identifier for that entry. EN 16931 describes a line discount with a reason (BT-139) and reason code (BT-140), and a line charge with a reason (BT-144) and reason code (BT-145), not with an identifier.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is not rejected. Software that reads only the EN 16931 fields has nowhere to put the ID, so it is usually dropped. It is worth fixing if the buyer needs to know why the line was reduced or increased, or if your recipient wants a file without warnings.

How to fix it

Clear the identifier on the line discounts and charges in your invoicing software, or switch the export to the EN 16931 profile instead of an extended one. Make sure each discount or charge has a short reason, a reason code, or both. If you build the XML yourself, delete the ID element from the line's SpecifiedTradeAllowanceCharge.
