Warning

CII-SR-187: Line discounts and charges must not carry a basis quantity

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-187 means a discount or charge on an invoice line contains a BasisQuantity element, which EN 16931 does not use there. It is a warning only: delete the element and keep the amount, base amount or percentage.

On this page

What it means

Each discount (BG-27) or charge (BG-28) on an invoice line is checked for a BasisQuantity element, a quantity that the discount or charge is based on. EN 16931 describes these entries with an amount, an optional base amount, an optional percentage and a reason. It has no quantity there.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The recipient reads the amount and ignores the quantity. If the discount was meant to scale with a quantity, it is the amount you state that counts, not anything worked out from this element.

How to fix it

Find the BasisQuantity inside the line's SpecifiedTradeAllowanceCharge in the XML and delete it. Check that the discount or charge amount is already the final figure for the line, since nothing will be calculated from the quantity. If you cannot edit the file, ask your invoicing software vendor to stop exporting this element.
