Warning

CII-SR-185: Line discounts and charges must not carry a sequence number

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-185 means a discount or charge on an invoice line contains a SequenceNumeric element, which EN 16931 does not use there. It is a warning only: delete the element from that discount or charge and the warning goes away.

What it means

Each discount (BG-27) or charge (BG-28) on an invoice line is checked for a SequenceNumeric element. In the XML it sits inside a SpecifiedTradeAllowanceCharge in the line's settlement section and holds a position number for that entry. EN 16931 gives line discounts and charges no position number.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. The recipient's software reads only the fields EN 16931 defines and skips this one, so the number does nothing for the buyer. It is worth fixing when you want a clean check result, or when you meant the number to carry meaning, because it will not arrive.

How to fix it

Open the XML in a text editor, find the SequenceNumeric inside the line's discount or charge and delete that element. If your invoicing software writes the file, the element usually comes from its export template, so ask the vendor to stop writing it. Run the check again afterwards.
