Warning

CII-SR-156: Leave out the units-per-package quantity on an invoice line

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-156 means an invoice line carries a units-per-package quantity (PerPackageUnitQuantity), which EN 16931 does not use. The file is still accepted; remove the element and say it in words if the buyer needs it.

On this page

What it means

The rule checks the delivery block of each invoice line. It must not contain a PerPackageUnitQuantity, the number of units inside each package. EN 16931 has no field for packaging contents.

Why it matters

The invoice is not rejected, because this is a warning. The recipient's software does not read this element, so the figure is likely to be dropped and cannot be used to check the delivery.

How to fix it

Turn off the packaging options in the export settings of your invoicing software. If the pack size matters, add it to the item description (BT-154), for example the number of items per box. The quantity you charge for stays in the invoiced quantity (BT-129).

The rule as published

PerPackageUnitQuantity should not be present
