What it means

The payment card holder name (BT-88) is the name of the person or company that holds the card used for payment. It may be at most 200 characters in the Romanian rule set for RO e-Factura (CIUS-RO). In the UBL file this is HolderName inside CardAccount, and each payment means block is checked on its own. Leading and trailing spaces are ignored and repeated spaces count once.

Why it matters

The card holder name tells the buyer whose card the payment was made with. This is a fatal rule, so RO e-Factura rejects the invoice and you have to send a corrected file.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, open the payment details of the invoice and look at the card holder field. Keep only the name as it appears on the card and remove any other text. If the invoice is not paid by card, remove the card details altogether.

The rule as published

Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Numele detinatorului cardului de plata (BT-88), este 200. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the Payment card holder name(BT-88) is 200.

Business terms: BT-88
