BR-DEC-27: Line charge amount: at most two decimals

In short

BR-DEC-27 means a charge on an invoice line has an amount with more than two decimals. Fix it on that line by rounding the charge to two decimals, for example 2.50 instead of 2.504.

On this page

What it means

The amount of a charge on one invoice line (BT-141), such as a packaging or setup fee for that line, has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 2.504 fails and so does 2.500.

Why it matters

The line charge is added when the line net amount is worked out. An amount with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

On the line with the charge, round the charge amount to two decimals. If it comes from a percentage, round the calculated amount before it is written to the file. Then check that the line net amount (BT-131) still adds up with the rounded charge.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice line charge amount (BT-141) is 2.
