BR-DEC-24: Line discount amount: at most two decimals

In short

BR-DEC-24 means a discount on an invoice line has an amount with more than two decimals. Fix it on that line by rounding the discount to two decimals, for example 1.35 instead of 1.349.

On this page

What it means

The amount of a discount on one invoice line (BT-136) has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 1.349 fails and so does 1.350.

Why it matters

The line discount is subtracted when the line net amount is worked out. An amount with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

On the line with the discount, round the discount amount to two decimals. If it comes from a percentage, round the calculated amount before it is written to the file. Then check that the line net amount (BT-131) still adds up with the rounded discount.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice line allowance amount (BT-136) is 2.
