BR-DEC-23: Invoice line net amount: at most two decimals

In short

BR-DEC-23 means the net amount of an invoice line has more than two decimals. Fix it by rounding the line amount to two decimals on that line.

On this page

What it means

The net amount of an invoice line (BT-131), what the line comes to after line discounts and charges, has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 3.335 fails and so does 3.300. This rule checks the line amount only, not the unit price or the quantity.

Why it matters

The line amounts add up to the sum that all the invoice totals are built from. A line amount with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

Round the line total to two decimals in your invoicing software or in the export. A line total is quantity times unit price, minus line discounts and plus line charges, so 7 pieces at 0.4757 come to 3.3299, which must be written as 3.33. Then make sure the sum of line amounts (BT-106) uses the rounded line amounts.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice line net amount (BT-131) is 2.
