BR-41: Amount of a line discount is required

In short

BR-41 means the amount of the discount (BT-136) is missing. Enter an amount for every discount in your invoicing software, or remove discounts you do not use.

On this page

What it means

Every discount on an invoice line (BG-27) must contain the amount of the discount (BT-136). It is the amount of the discount without VAT.

Why it matters

Discounts and charges change the amount VAT is calculated on. The recipient needs the amount, the VAT category and the reason to book them correctly and to check that the VAT adds up.

How to fix it

Enter an amount for every discount in your invoicing software, or remove discounts you do not use. An empty discount row, often left over from a template, triggers this rule.

The rule as published

Each Invoice line allowance (BG-27) shall have an Invoice line allowance amount (BT-136).

Business terms: BG-27, BT-136
