BR-DEC-14: Total with VAT: at most two decimals

In short

BR-DEC-14 means the invoice total with VAT has more than two decimals. Fix it by adding the total without VAT and the total VAT after both are rounded to two decimals.

On this page

What it means

The invoice total with VAT (BT-112) has more than two digits after the decimal point. Every digit after the point counts, so 1416.145 fails and so does 1416.140.

Why it matters

This is the gross total of the invoice, the figure the buyer's books are built around. A total with extra decimals cannot be booked as stated, so the file fails validation and is rejected.

How to fix it

Calculate the total with VAT as the total without VAT (BT-109) plus the total VAT (BT-110), both already rounded to two decimals. Do not subtract the paid amount or add a rounding amount here, because those have their own fields and go into the amount due (BT-115). If the result still has extra decimals, one of the figures it is built from is unrounded.

The rule as published

The allowed maximum number of decimals for the Invoice total amount with VAT (BT-112) is 2.
