What are 004010 and 005010?

Versions of the X12 standard. The version is stated in the envelope, and trading partners agree which version and which implementation guide they use.

How does the 810 fit with other X12 transactions?

In a typical supply chain the buyer sends an 850 purchase order, the seller may answer with an 855 acknowledgment and an 856 ship notice, and then sends the 810 invoice. Payment can follow as an 820 remittance.
