DTAZV, Datenträgeraustausch Auslandszahlungsverkehr, is the legacy German fixed-width format for foreign payment orders sent to banks. It belongs to Annex 3 of the German banking industry's DFÜ agreement. DTAZV must no longer be used from November 2026. Its replacement is ISO 20022 pain.001 in the AXZ variant; confirm the required XML version with your bank.
Where is DTAZV specified?
In Annex 3 of the DFÜ agreement, published on the EBICS site with an English translation (EBICS, in German). The supplementary documents include the schema for foreign payments in XML, pain.001.001.09_AXZ_GBIC5 (EBICS, in German). Domestic transfers moved to SEPA long ago; see DTAUS.
Payment files and bank statements
A DTAZV file is an instruction to pay. A bank statement, such as MT940 or CAMT.053, reports what has been booked. Klarbon works only with statements: it reads supported structured bank files and converts them into other statement formats. Reading PDF statements is not available yet. It does not read or write payment files and never starts a payment.
