Warning

UBL-CR-178: The seller's legal entity should not include a registration date

In short

Warning: worth checking.

UBL-CR-178 means the seller's legal entity details contain a registration date (cac:PartyLegalEntity/cbc:RegistrationDate), which EN 16931 does not use. Remove the date. The buyer can look it up in the company register.

What it means

UBL lets the legal entity details of a party say on which date it was registered. EN 16931 only has the legal name (BT-27), the company registration number (BT-30) and additional legal information (BT-33). This rule fails whenever cbc:RegistrationDate is present in the seller's legal entity, even if it is empty.

Why it matters

This rule is a warning, so the invoice is still accepted. The recipient's software has no field for the date and ignores it. It is worth fixing when your software adds the date by default and you want a file without notices.

How to fix it

Check the company details of your own company in your invoicing software and look for an export option that leaves out the registration date. If you build the XML yourself, delete cbc:RegistrationDate from cac:AccountingSupplierParty/cac:Party/cac:PartyLegalEntity. Keep your company registration number in cbc:CompanyID.

The rule as published

A UBL invoice should not include the AccountingSupplierParty Party PartyLegalEntity RegistrationDate
