CII-SR-482: The total including VAT may appear only once

In short

Fatal: fails the selected checks.

CII-SR-482 means the invoice totals contain the invoice total including VAT (GrandTotalAmount) more than once. Fix it by keeping one value, the total excluding VAT plus the VAT amount.

On this page

What it means

The totals section (SpecifiedTradeSettlementHeaderMonetarySummation) holds the invoice total amount including VAT (BT-112) in the element GrandTotalAmount. The check counts how often it appears and allows at most one.

Why it matters

This is the full value of the invoice, and the amount due is worked out from it. With two values the recipient cannot tell which one is right, so the amount to pay is in doubt. This is a fatal error and the invoice is rejected.

How to fix it

Invoicing software normally calculates this total itself, so a repeat usually points to an export fault or a hand edit. Create and export the invoice again. If you edit the XML yourself, delete the extra GrandTotalAmount and keep the one that equals the total excluding VAT plus the VAT amount.

The rule as published
