Warning

CII-SR-365: Do not name a separate payer

In short

Warning: worth checking.

CII-SR-365 means the invoice has a PayerTradeParty block, a party that pays when that is not the buyer, which EN 16931 does not use. Delete the block. The invoice is addressed to the buyer (BG-7).

On this page

What it means

The invoice-level settlement section (ApplicableHeaderTradeSettlement) holds a PayerTradeParty block. In the underlying syntax it names the party that pays the invoice when that differs from the buyer. EN 16931 has no payer, only the buyer (BG-7).

Why it matters

The file is still accepted, because this is a warning. Receivers treat the buyer as the party that owes the amount due and ignore the payer. If someone else really pays, the buyer's software will not learn that from this block.

How to fix it

Delete the PayerTradeParty block. Check that the buyer details (BG-7) belong to the business that is invoiced and that owes the amount due. If another company pays on the buyer's behalf, for example a group treasury, agree this with the buyer and mention it in an invoice note (BT-22) only if they ask for it.
