Warning

BR-TMP-7: Dates in CII must use format 102 (YYYYMMDD)

In short

Warning: worth checking.

BR-TMP-7 means a date in a CII file is missing the format attribute 102 or is not written as eight digits, YYYYMMDD. The file is still accepted, but you should fix it by marking each date with format 102 and writing it without separators.

What it means

Every date in a CII invoice is a date element (DateTimeString or DateString) with a format attribute that says how the date is written. This rule requires the format attribute to be 102 and the value to be exactly eight digits: year, month and day with no hyphens and no time. For 5 November 2026 that is 20261105. A missing format attribute, a different format code or a hyphenated date fails.

Why it matters

This is a warning, so the file is still accepted. Software that reads CII uses the format code to know how to interpret the text. If the code is missing or does not match the text, the date may be misread or ignored. It is worth fixing before you send the invoice.

How to fix it

This usually comes from the software that writes the file, not from something you typed. Check that the date fields in your invoicing software are real dates and not free text, and update the software or contact the vendor if it still writes another format. If you edit the XML by hand, set the format attribute to 102 on each date and write the value as eight digits.

The rule as published

Datumsangaben in UNCEFACT/CII müssen das Attribut format="102" tragen und im Format JJJJMMTT (YYYYMMDD) übermittelt werden.
