What it means

The telephone number of the buyer's contact (BT-57) must not be longer than 100 characters. Spaces count, but extra spaces at either end and repeated spaces are ignored. In UBL it is the Telephone element in the buyer's contact details.

Why it matters

This is a Romanian rule for RO e-Factura and it is fatal. The check fails and the file is rejected, so the invoice is not accepted until the number is shortened.

How to fix it

In your invoicing software, open the customer's record (the buyer) and look at the contact phone number. A value this long is usually several numbers in one field, or a number followed by notes. Keep the main number only, then create the e-invoice again.

The rule as published

Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Numarul de telefon al contactului Cumparatorului (BT-57) este 100. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the Buyer contact telephone number (BT-57) is 100.

Business terms: BT-57
