What it means

The city in the buyer's address (Buyer city, BT-52) may be at most 50 characters long. The test counts the characters of the city name, ignoring spaces at the start and end.

Why it matters

The city is part of the address that identifies the buyer. CIUS-RO limits it to 50 characters and the rule is fatal, so RO e-Factura rejects the file until you send a corrected one.

How to fix it

Open the customer record in your invoicing software and check the city field. It should hold the city or town name only, not the street, postcode or a full address. If the whole address sits in one field, split it into street, postcode and city.

The rule as published

Numarul maxim permis de caractere pentru Localitatea Cumparatorului (BT-52) este 50. #The allowed maximum number of characters for the Buyer city (BT-52) is 50.

Business terms: BT-52
